PINE ISLAND, Minn. - Nov. 4, 2026 - Sara Bertschinger of Pine Island has won election to the Minnesota House of Representatives in District 20B.
"I am so grateful to every voter, volunteer, friend, and family member who stood with this campaign and invested in the future of our district," Bertschinger said. "Your support, encouragement, prayers, and willingness to show up sustained this campaign and made this victory possible."
Bertschinger ran on three key priorities:
Economic opportunity and freedom
Family values
Government accountability
"My platform was built around accountable government, economic freedom, and family values," Bertschinger said. "Those principles do not end with an election, and I intend to carry these priorities forward."
With Minnesota potentially headed for another period of one-party control under a Democratic trifecta, Bertschinger emphasized the importance of legislative oversight and public participation. She pointed to the growth in state spending and taxes, the use of an $18 billion surplus, and the passage of partisan legislation during the last period of unified Democratic control.
"Accountability does not stop on Election Day," Bertschinger said. "In many ways, that is when it becomes even more important."
Bertschinger pledged to represent Southeastern Minnesota, keep communities informed about developing legislation, and ensure residents' voices are heard at the Capitol.
"We have seen before how public engagement and overwhelming constituent feedback can push back against policies that do not reflect the priorities of Minnesotans," Bertschinger said. "Your voice matters. Your opinions matter. And your willingness to speak up matters."
During the campaign, Bertschinger met voters at their doors, attended community gatherings, and hosted events throughout the district.
A community nurse and longtime member of the Pine Island area, Bertschinger lives on her family's centennial homestead. She has also been active as a citizen advocate for life, liberty, and the opportunity for every Minnesotan to succeed.
"I am thankful for this opportunity to represent the conservative values of our district," Bertschinger said. "Minnesota is an amazing state. The people here are hardworking, community-minded, and down-to-earth. I look forward to being a voice for my district and bringing rural values to St. Paul."
"Thank you for your trust, your encouragement, and the opportunity to represent our district," Bertschinger added. "I am thankful for this journey, proud of the people who made it possible, and committed to continuing the work ahead."
